Mick has over 20 years experience in the zoo industry, both in the UK and Australia. Having started his career working with gorillas and small primates he moved on to working with hoofstock before specialising in elephants.
As Deputy-Head Elephant Keeper at Colchester Zoo in the UK, Mick presented at BIAZA elephant schools and was a member of the Elephant Welfare Committee.
Mick moved to Australia in 2012 to escape the miserable English weather and to take up a role as Senior Elephant Keeper at Taronga Zoo before eventually becoming Curator of Elephants and Ungulates at Sydney Zoo.
