*Prohibited items are included but not limited to Party decorations; i.e Balloons, streamers, glitter, confetti as well as balls of any kind. With the exception of prams and strollers for young patrons and disability aids for patrons with disabilities, patrons may not use mobility devices in, or within the vicinity of, Sydney Zoo, including bicycles, scooters, skateboards, trolleys or similar. Management discretion applies at all times, with animal welfare and visitor safety paramount.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
A private hired space for 1 hour, set up with decorated tables, where you and your guests can enjoy lunch and cake (BYO). Additional add ons (fee) are a reptile encounter, koala trail experience or a virtual reality session. The Zoo is open and accessible to your group during thee standard trading hours around your party hire time.
Your Sydney Zoo Party hire includes a dedicated staff member to assist with the pick up of the lunch order, help to assist with the reptile encounter and the cutting of the cake and distributing to guests. This staff member will be spread across all parties and are not there to provide entertainment for your party guests.
Cakeage is the supply of all plates, cutlery, napkins and serving tools for all paid party guests. This is not required if you are bringing cupcakes as the birthday cake.
Commercially branded, packaged food in not permitted in Sydney Zoo, however can be repackaged into containers and brought in. The price of food in the party package does not discount if you choose to do this.
Birthday Party packages are a separate cost and a re-entry visit will not be required for all birthday party children. All additional adults accompanying the party can enter as member revisits, however wristbands will not be provided to these visitors. These costs go towards the hired space, the staffing involved and the use of Sydney Zoo property.
You can organise external contractors for things like face painting or photography, however they must be paid for. They are entering into Sydney Zoo and have the ability to spend the entire day here if they wish, so they must have an entry ticket. Please provide the details of all external contractors when you secure your party, at least 7 days prior to your party date. We can add them into your booking for you. It is at the responsibility of the contractor and the parents to redirect other Zoo guests if this person is visible to the rest of the Zoo.
If you do have specific dietary requirements, please let us know what they are, we will provide some options from food and beverage based on your preferences.
Our reptile encounters are tailored to the age of the birthday child and could include eg a blue tongued lizard, a shingleback lizard or a python. Our experienced keepers will present the reptile to the whole group and the party child will have the opportunity to hold the reptile and have their photo taken on the parents' device.
If your child does have a fear of any animal, please let us know. However the Keeper team select animals based on a number of factors – child’s age, frequency of encounters on the day, other groups in the zoo, their feeding schedule and their general mood for the day.
Our Koala Experience is held in the Koala Trail, where the group will have the opportunity for a photo with a koala, individually (per voucher) or as a group with each person receiving a photo (per voucher applicable).
Vouchers are provided to the parent at the beginning of the day and they can redeem those at the Koala Trail up until 3.45pm.
If adding on the additional extras, the entire group of paid party children must be booked into these together, they cannot split the group between experiences. These experiences need to be supervised by adults at all times. Vouchers will be provided for Koala Trail and VR experiences.
We provide simple table decorations and set ups for your party, there is no need for you to provide your own decorations. If there is anything specific you would like to bring for the tables, please advise us prior to the day. For the safety of our animals tables scatters, balloons, streamers, party poppers, sparklers, paint, glass, alcohol, scooters, skateboards, knives or balls of any kind are not permitted into Sydney Zoo.
Our Birthday Party staff will need to clean and reset the space, so the area must be clear of all personal items at the conclusion of your party.
A payment link will be provided when your party is booked into your preferred date. Full payment is required at least 7 days prior to your party date.
Our friendly team will send you a reminder that the payment is due. If we do not hear from you within 24 hours, we will cancel the booking. Please keep in touch with us if you require more time to secure your payment. If you cancel your party within 3 days of the booking date, a cancellation fee of $100 may be charged.
Refunds are not provided on completed bookings but can be put towards adult ticket purchases for on the day.
We can add all extra people to your booking and send you a payment link to make payment. Please advise of any extra participants as soon as you are aware as we will need to provide extra wristbands and any extra vouchers will need to be arranged. Final numbers will need to be provided no less that 48 hours prior to your party.
