Phorusrhacidae – "Bearer of Scars"

Terror Birds truly lived up to their name, reaching up to 3 metres tall and towering over most other animals of their time. Although they could not fly, they were powerful ground hunters.

With long, strong legs, Terror Birds could run at high speeds, making them fast and effective predators. Their large, hooked beaks were used to seize and overpower prey. They lived in open grasslands and forests, where their height also helped them spot animals from a distance.

Terror Birds went extinct long before the end of the Ice Age, but their fossils reveal just how formidable these ancient birds were.
