Roar-some school holiday fun at the NEW Sydney Zoo in Western Sydney

After an exhausting, challenging year, everyone deserves to have fun these school holidays, and Sydney Zoo has got you sorted with endless opportunities for the whole family to let loose, get back to nature and unleash their wild side.

Sydney Zoo is the place to be this summer, with amazing animals and roar-some activities for kids of all ages. Whether you’re mad about monkeys, ecstatic over emus or go zippy over zebras, everyone has a favourite animal, and from the native to the exotic, they’re all here at the NEW Sydney Zoo. in Western Sydney.

Head underground for a wander through Australia’s largest reptile and nocturnal house and get up close and personal with some of our country’s scaliest, spikiest and most deadly inhabitants. Or, if you have any future marine biologists in the family, let them marvel at the aquarium, filled with a shark, penguins and fish of every shape and colour.

There are lions and tigers and meerkats (including three adorable meerkat pups!) and two playful new bull elephants, Kavi and Ashoka, who join resident female Asian elephant Saigon in the zoo’s exotic Asia precinct. The zoo is always changing with new and exciting habitats constantly on offer. See more of what’s new at the zoo, here.

There are so many different animal encounters to experience: If you’ve ever wanted to cuddle a camel, mosey up to a meerkat or say g’day to a giraffe, you can do all three at Sydney Zoo. The zoo is also home to Sydney’s only lion encounter, where little (and big) daredevils can feed the big cats by hand… but be quick: bookings are essential and spots are filling fast!

By very popular demand, the famous Ferris wheel is back just in time for the school holidays, giving everyone a chance to soar high above the action and take in the zoo from a whole new perspective.

Sydney Zoo is an inclusive venue, with all public areas and exhibits accessible by wheelchair or mobility scooter. Bring your own stroller or hire one on the day, and make your way around with total ease - there are wide pathways, few hills and the entire zoo is completely step-free, which means it’s perfect for families with prams.
